Creative retreat
The son’s room was intended as a space for creativity, play, and relaxation. Since he loves LEGO and other creative hobbies, flexible use of the room was the main focus. The planning process was quick, as I could build on a design from his sister’s room, which already provided a functional foundation. With clever storage solutions and thoughtful furniture arrangement, a space was created that serves both as a retreat and as a play and creative area.
Planning process
For this room, I was able to build on an existing design, which significantly sped up the planning process and provided a solid foundation. The main focus was on the boy’s individual wishes: his LEGO collection and creative hobbies were to be showcased optimally. The illuminated display cabinets present the collection impressively, highlighting his favorite pieces.
The furniture and interior elements were chosen to be multifunctional: the seating blocks can easily be converted into extra beds for overnight guests, allowing spontaneous sleepovers without hassle. Under the loft bed, a cozy reading corner with targeted lighting was created, providing a retreat for comics or relaxed reading.
The color scheme was deliberately chosen to be bold, reflecting energy, joy, and the boy’s personality. At the same time, the furniture layout ensures clear structure and enough free space for playing, building, and experimenting.
Through this careful combination of functionality, storage, retreat areas, and play opportunities, a room was created that is both practical and inspiring, perfectly supporting the personality of its occupant.
